SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team concluded their 2023 season with a Friday-night bout against St. Scholastica at Hutton Arena. Jenna Rubbelke tied the single-game school record with 30 digs in a three-set match for the second time this season, which highlighted the Pipers in a 3-0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-16) victory over the Saints.
Julianna Boyum, Hannah Davis, and Katrina St. Clair were honored prior to the match as part of the senior day festivities. St. Clair set up a Hannah Davis kill in the match's final point.
Hamline ends the 2023 season with a 9-15, 4-7 MIAC record, while St. Scholastica concludes their campaign with a 3-22, 1-10 MIAC mark. The Pipers end the season with four-straight MIAC victories.
Hamline 3, St. Scholastica 0 (30-28, 25-15, 25-16)
The opening set resulted in seven lead changes, but Hamline managed to out-slug St. Scholastica with 20 kills and a .228 hitting percentage. Elizabeth Lopata engineered Hamline's offense with six kills in the opening frame, which helped them secure a 30-28 victory.
The final two frames combined for just one lead change, where Hamline won by convincing scores of 25-15 and 25-16.
Hamline registered 48 kills, a season-high among three set matches. Lopata notched a game-high 15 kills for the Pipers, who hit .254 as a team. Boyum notched nine kills and three assisted blocks. Lindsay Eckelman and Kennedy Tutak each had a hand in three assisted blocks. Kaitlyn Kotek had 34 assists for the Pipers.
