ST. JOSEPH, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team dropped their first game of the season by a 77-64 score at Saint Benedict on Saturday afternoon.
The Pipers fall to 3-1, 2-1 MIAC, while the Bennies improve to 4-1, 2-0 MIAC.

Fouls plagued Hamline throughout the game as they were called 26 times, the most in a single game since they had 29 in a 78-70 loss to Bethany Lutheran on November 17, 2018. The Bennies prevailed at the glass with 16 offensive rebounds, which helped keep Hamline's total rebounds at 21.
Michaela Stamer led the Pipers with 17 points on 7-of-17 from the field and a 3-of-9 clip from beyond the arch, as well as three assists. Lydia Lecher registered a team-leading six rebounds along with 11 points.Â
Five Bennies finished in double figures, led by Lydia Hay's 17 points. Kira Young had 12 points and nine boards, while Carla Meyer notched 11 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
The Pipers will host St. Catherine at Hutton Arena on Monday, December 4 at 7 p.m.
