CHARLESTON, S.C.—The Hamline University women's hockey team walk out of Charleston, South Carolina with a 2-1 victory over Williams at the Carolina Ice Palace on Sunday afternoon.
The Pipers improve to 9-2, while the Ephs fall to 4-3-1 on the season.
Hamline 4, Bowdoin 0 (Saturday, December 30)
Hamline began their two-game swing with a 4-0 victory over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. Emme Nelson and Annabel Mehta each had one goal and one assist for the Pipers. Ashley Grabau and Cailey McLaughlin recorded a goal apiece while Morgan Wohlers, Haley Eder-Zdechlik, Elizabeth Valley, and Abigail Chamernick each picked up one assist for a Pipers squad that outshot the Polar Bears 31-13.
Hamline 2, Williams 1
The Pipers managed to hold a 41-16 advantage in shots.
Williams goaltender Erin Pye's two blemishes came at the hands of Sydney Lemke at 1:46 of the first period that made the score 1-0, followed by Morgan Wohlers' shot that widened Hamline's lead to 2-0 on the power play at 5:07 of the second period.
The Ephs cut their deficit in half at 9:54 of the third period, when Anna DiChristina's shot from the top left circle made the score 2-1.
Hamline, who finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play, got assists from Annika Lindgren, Sydney Lemke and Emme Nelson.
Pye made 39 saves in net for Williams, while Pipers goaltender Olivia Rinzel stopped 15 shots.
The Pipers will host UW-Stevens Point at TRIA Rink on Saturday, January 6 at 2 p.m.
