Men's Hockey Ends Season With Emotional 6-5 (OT) Win Over Bethel

BLAINE, MINN..—The Hamline University men's hockey team closed their 2022-23 season with a Saturday-night bout against Bethel at the National Sports Center. The Pipers converted their second MIAC weekend sweep of the season with a 6-5 (OT) victory behind Sam Dabrowski's game-winner less than a minute into overtime.

The Pipers finish their season with a 13-11-1, 6-10-0 MIAC record, while the Royals conclude their campaign with a 10-14-1, 5-10-1 MIAC mark.

Hamline 6, Bethel 5 (OT)

The 11 goals between both teams tied for the most in a game this season, along with a 6-5 win over UW-River Falls on November 12.

Flash-forward to Saturday night's version, where two lead changes occurred throughout the outing. Hamline never trailed Bethel throughout the opening two periods. The first 20:00 resulted in 18 shots on goal for a Hamline team that outscored Bethel 3-1 in that time thanks to Sam Dabrowski at 11:43, Ike Taraszewski at 18:05, and Carson Simon at 19:23.

This ignited a Bethel squad that rattled off four-consecutive goals throughout the last two frames, which resulted in a 5-3 advantage at 8:48 of the third period.

Hamline would out shoot Bethel 10-3 from that point forward, which included a trio of unanswered goals from Joe Martin (11:39) and Ryan Brandt (13:19) in the third period, followed by Dabrowski's game-winner 00:55 into overtime that secured a 6-5 decision.

Dabrowski netted two goals in his final collegiate game, which engineered a Hamline squad that notched a 45-35 shots advantage over Bethel. Tyler Braccini tallied a pair of goals and one assist for the Royals, while Spencer Kring notched three assists.

Kevin Lake made 30 saves in net for Hamline, while Travis Allen stopped 39 shots for Bethel.

The Pipers bid farewell to seniors Ryan Murray, Erik Dahl, Sebastien Vaillancourt, Andrew Erwin, Blake Halfpenny, Brandon Bissett (fifth year), Dabrowski, and Kevin Lake.
