TUCSON, ARIZ.—The Hamline University baseball team squared-off against Otterbein on the third day of their spring trip in Tucson, Arizona on Monday. Colin Schuetz's walk-off RBI-single that scored Max Gerstner in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled the Pipers to a 5-4 victory over the Cardinals.
Hamline improves to 3-8 on the season, while Otterbein falls to 11-3.

Brayden Quincel's three-run home run in the third inning gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. The Pipers responded with a run in the bottom of of the third behind three-consecutive hits from Max Gerstner, Mac Enlow, and Tyler Johnson. Gerstner scored from second base off Tyler Johnson's single to narrow Hamline's deficit to 3-1.
The fourth inning resulted in a pair of Hamline runs as Braeden Bourne kicked things off with a lead-off single. He advanced to third on Owen Christenson's single to left field, and scored on Gavin Renwick's sacrifice fly to center to cut Otterbein's lead to 3-2. Christenson tied things up at 3-3 as when he reached second on Gerstner's walk, and touched home plate on Enlow's single.
Both teams traded a seventh-inning run to make the score 4-4. Enlow did the honors for Hamline with a ground rule double. He would reach third on Johnson's groundout, and score on Finn Melchior's single.
Gerstner set the stage in the ninth inning, when he reached on an error. Enlow followed that with an intentional walk that paid dividends as Tyler Johnson grounded into a double play, but Gerstner would reach third on the play. It set up Schuetz's game-winning RBI-single in his lone at bat of the game, which gave Hamline a 5-4 victory.
Enlow went 3-for-4 at the plate for Hamline, while Bourne notched a 2-for-3 outing.
Parker Leipzig struck out seven batters and allowed five hits over five innings of work. Dalton Maxwell picked up the pitching win as he allowed four hits, one run, and tallied three strikeouts over the final four frames.
The Pipers will face Carthage in Tucson on Wednesday, March 15 at 10 a.m. (MT).
