Softball Prevails With Wins Over Rams and Tigers

KISSIMMEE, FLA.—The Hamline University softball team came through with their second doubleheader sweep of the 2023 season with a 15-10 win over Farmingdale State, and an 8-2 decision over Sewanee in Kissimmee, Florida on Thursday morning.

The Pipers move to 6-3-1 with the Thursday sweep.

Hamline 15, Farmingdale State 10

Both teams combined for 13 errors in the contest, as nine of them came from Farmingdale State. The Pipers made the most of the Rams' miscues with 11 unearned runs scored in the contest. Hamline never trailed, thanks to a six-run third inning that gave them enough cushion to hold onto a 15-10 victory after the Rams threatened with a five-run seventh inning with the tying runner on deck.

Hamline mustered 10 hits as a team led by Josephine Cariveau's 2-for-4 outing that included a triple, a double, four runs scored, three RBI, and a walk. Maddie Johnson and Gabby Cook each registered a pair of hits for the Pipers while Jenna Rubbelke drew a pair of walks, scored two runs, and had a single. Neyla Olwine drove in three runs off a triple.

Sophie Stork and Dana Rosbacka each allowed five hits and five runs in the pitching circle for Hamline. Farmingdale State's Allie Stanya allowed 12 hits and just four earned runs in the complete-game pitching loss.

Hamline 8, Sewanee 2

Hamline continued to force errors on the opposition as Sewanee committed five in the contest, which resulted in five unearned runs. Fifteen hits were produced on behalf of the Pipers, as Gabby Cook went 3-for-4. Maddie Johnson, Lydia Lecher and Gabby Tuhy each contributed two hits and an RBI for the Pipers.

Josephine Cariveau and Jenna Rubbelke each went 1-for-3 and combined to score five runs.

Pipers starting pitcher Montana Miller picked up the complete-game pitching victory as she allowed six hits, two runs (one earned) and walked no batters.

The Pipers will return to action tomorrow, Thursday, March 17 in Kissimmee, Florida against Southern Maine at 9 a.m. (ET), and Washington (Md.) at 11 a.m. (ET).
