Women's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener to Bennies

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team's 2023 home opener pitted them against first-year varsity program Saint Benedict at Klas Field on Monday night. The Bennies' first-year moniker didn't reflect their performance, as they never trailed in a 14-7 victory over the Pipers.

Saint Benedict improves to 4-1, 2-0 MWLC, while Hamline falls to 1-7, 0-3 MWLC.

The Bennies' offensive opportunities occurred thanks to their 17-5 domination in draw controls. Hamline managed to make the most of their time in the offensive zone, as they registered 27 shots against the Bennies' 29.

Maitland Luksan, Courtney Parker, and Analisa Aragon each netted a pair of goals for the Hamline offense. Aragon added a pair of assists to her stat line for a four-point game along with three ground balls and one caused turnover. Avery Wilson tallied a team-leading five draw controls.

Ella Steinke notched a team-leading four goals for the Bennies, while teammate Sami Hackley notched three goals and four assists for seven points. Hackley added a team-leading nine draw controls.

Chloe Lewis made 13 saves in net for Saint Benedict, while Justine Case stopped seven shots between the pipes for Hamline.

The Pipers will host Cornell at Klas Field on Thursday, April 13 at 6 p.m.
