Softball Secures Road Sweep of Knights

NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Hamline University softball team came through with their first MIAC sweep of the season with 10-1 (six innings) and 10-7 victories at Carleton on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pipers improve to 9-10-1, 3-3 MIAC while the Knights fall to 10-10, 1-3 MIAC.

Hamline 10, Carleton 1

The Pipers led from start-to-finish, kick started by their five-run first inning that gave them enough cushion in a 10-1 victory.

Hamline finished the game with six doubles as a team thanks to Josephine Cariveau, Savannah Johnson, Gabby Cook, Abbey Herbert, Raelyn Costley, and Lydia Lecher. Johnson played the game of her life, going 4-for-4 with a home run, double, four runs scored, and three RBI. Cook went 3-for-4 while Costley and Cariveau each notched a 2-for-4 outing. Hamline tallied 14 hits as a team.

Montana Miller allowed seven hits and one run in the complete-game pitching decision for the Pipers.

Hamline 10, Carleton 7

The Knights took 3-0 first-inning lead, before the Pipers scored at least one run in each of the final five frames in a 10-7 win.

Gabby Cook went 5-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI, followed by Abbey Herbert's 4-for-5 outing that included four RBI. Jenna Rubbelke led the way with three runs scored, which complimented her 2-for-4 game at the plate. Lydia Lecher rounded out the multi-hit Pipers, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Both teams combined for 31 hits, 18 of which came from Hamline.

Dana Rosbacka and Sophie Stork combined to give up 13 hits and seven runs in the pitching circle for the Pipers.

Hamline will host Augsburg (DH) at Meredith Field on Friday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m.
