Blugolds Offense Too Much To Handle For Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University baseball team hosted third-year varsity program UW-Eau Claire at CHS Field on Thursday evening. The Pipers dropped a 13-2 (8 innings) decision to the Blugolds.

Hamline falls to 8-16 and sees their win streak end at four, while the Blugolds improve to 6-13.

UW-Eau Claire, who utilized 21 different players in the contest, pounded 16 hits and held the Pipers to just four. Braeden Bourne, Caden Erickson, and Owen Christenson each notched a single while Finn Melchior laced a double. Max Gerstner drew a pair of walks in the contest.

Hamline used five pitchers, who combined to strikeout nine batters. Ethan Smith led the way with four strikeouts while allowing just three hits and two runs over the final three frames.

Nico Smith, Brennan Cohen, and Aaron Skrypek combined to give up four hits, two runs (one earned), and register four strikeouts on the mound for the Blugolds.

Hamline will travel to Bethel (DH) on Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
