SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University softball team hosted St. Olaf (DH) in a Saturday-afternoon bout at Meredith Field. Both teams pushed through the cold and rainy conditions, but it was the Oles who prevailed in the win column with 8-0 victories in games one and two.
The Pipers fall to 11-12-1, 5-5 MIAC, while the Oles improve to 14-14, 8-2 MIAC.
St. Olaf 8, Hamline 0
St. Olaf pitcher Jenna Peschel allowed just three hits in the contest. Two of them came from Savannah Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with a double for the Pipers. Josephine Cariveau also registered a double.
Hamline pitcher Dana Rosbacka surrendered 13 hits and eight runs (six earned) in the pitching circle. The Oles got hits from seven different individuals.
St. Olaf 8, Hamline 0 (5 innings)
A seven-run second inning, followed by one in the fifth was all the Oles needed to secure the 8-0 victory. All seven runs in the second inning occurred with two outs. Hamline accumulated six hits in the contest, led by Jenna Rubbelke's 2-for-3 outing that included a double.
Montana Miller went the distance on the pitching rubber. She allowed 11 hits and eight runs, but only one of them went down as earned.
The Pipers will travel to St. Catherine (DH) on Wednesday, April 13 for a 3:30 p.m. start.
