SAINT PAUL, MINN- The Hamline University women's lacrosse team was back in action Saturday to take on Monmouth in an MWLC matchup at Klas Field. The Pipers dominated the shots on goal 35-6, and used a big second half and a huge performance from
Maitland Luksan to cruise all the way to a 17-2 win.
The win will move the Pipers to 2-9 (1-4 MWLC), while the Scots will fall to 0-11 (0-5 MWLC).
Hamline 17 Monmouth 2
In a slow start to the game Monmouth got on the board first with 6:35 left in the first quarter. The Pipers responded though taking control of the game from there with three goals to close the quarter with the lead. Then in the second they posted three more to go into the break with a 6-1 lead. It was in the third quarter though when the offense really took off, with
Maitland Luksan scoring four of her seven goals in the third, and helping the Pipers growing the lead to 13-2. Hamline was able to cruise from there posting four more goals to close out a 17-2 win.
Along with her seven goals Luksan picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover.
Lily Uhl pitched in two goals and a pair of assists. The Pipers also got two goals each from
Taryn Leonard and
Courtney Parker.
Kendra Haselow also scored a goal to go with a strong defensive performance with five ground ball pickups and four caused turnovers.
Justine Case got the win in goal for the Pipers with four saves, while Lea Selquist posted 18 saves.
The Pipers will be in action again Saturday, April 29 when they host Wartburg at 1 p.m.
