Pipers Race Past Knights

SAINT PAUL, MINN- The Hamline University women's lacrosse team was back in action Saturday, hosting the Wartburg Knights in an MWLC matchup. The Pipers controlled the game the whole way using a fast start to take over and run to a 15-4 win.

Hamline improves to 3-9, 2-4 MWLC while Wartburg falls to 2-12, 1-6 MWLC.

For the Pipers the scoring got going early with Avery Wilson opening the floodgates in the first quarter with her goal. By the end of that quarter the Pipers had made the score 8-0 including three goals from Taryn Leonard. After getting two more goals the Pipers were able to go into the halftime break with a 10-0 lead. The lead then got stretched even more to 14-0 in the third before the Knights were able to get on the board. Hamline then got one final goal in the fourth from Lily Uhl, and Wartburg was able to get three straight into the net before the game ended 15-4.

Leonard ended the game with six goals with three ground ball pickups and caused three turnovers, while Uhl finished with three goals. Maitland Luksan added three goals and three assists as well. Courtney Parker led the team picking up five ground balls.

Justine Case posted five saves and the win in goal for the Pipers, the Knights had a duel effort with Alyson Hasner saving eight and Kate Ferguson saving four.

The Pipers will be back in action again when they travel to Augsburg on Sunday April, 30 at 1 p.m.
