Jim Rubbelke Notches 300th Win in Sweep of Cobbers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University softball team hosted Concordia (Minn.) (DH) for a Saturday-afternoon bout at Meredith Field, where they prevailed with a pair of victories by scores of 9-3 and 10-5. The results put head coach Jim Rubbelke at 300 career wins. Rubbelke, now in his 16th season at the helm, owns a 300-260-2 overall record.

Gabby Cook and Dana Rosbacka were honored prior to the contest for senior day.

The sweep gives Hamline a 14-17-1, 8-10 MIAC record, while Concordia falls to 5-28, 1-16 MIAC.

Hamline 9, Concordia 3

Both teams were tied 2-2 through 4 1/2 innings of play before Hamline's two-run fourth inning, and five-run fifth frame gave them enough cushion in a 9-3 victory.

Gabby Cook and Abbey Herbert each went 2-for-4 at the dish for a Hamline team that accumulated nine hits. Cook notched two doubles, and drove in a pair of runs. Lydia Lecher also notched two RBI, which complimented her 1-for-2 outing.

Dana Rosbacka went the distance in the circle for Hamline. She registered eight strikeouts while allowing five hits and three runs (two earned). The Cobbers utilized three different pitchers.

Hamline 10, Concordia 5

The Pipers, who led from start-to-finish, capped off their scoring with a five-run fourth frame that sealed a 10-5 victory. They held a narrow 11-10 advantage in hits over the Cobbers, engineered by two-hit performances from Jenna Rubbelke, Gabby Cook, Josephine Cariveau, and Lecher. Cariveau drove in four runs, while Cook knocked in three. Savannah Johnson, Maddie Johnson, and Lecher each scored a pair of runs.

Montana Miller notched six strikeouts and allowed 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings of pitching work for Hamline before Rosbacka notched two strikeouts over the final 1 1/3 frames.

The Pipers forced six Cobber errors in the contest.

Hamline will host St. Scholastica (DH) at Meredith Field tomorrow, Sunday, April 30 at 12 p.m.
