ROSEVILLE, MINN.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team made the short trek up Snelling Avenue to face Northwestern (Minn.) for their 2023 MWLC opener on Wednesday night. The Eagles never trailed in an 18-6 victory over the Pipers amid winter-like conditions.
Hamline falls to 1-5, 0-1 MWLC, while Northwestern improves to 6-3, 2-0 MWLC.

Samantha Wiebold was all over the stat sheet for the Eagles with a game-high six goals, eight shots, five draw controls, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Teammate Cara Smith was on her heels with four goals, one assist, five points, eight shots, four ground balls, five caused turnovers, and two draw controls. The dynamic duo engineered a Northwestern squad that outshot Hamline 36-15.
Maddie Swanson and Courtney Parker each netted a pair of goals for the Pipers. Parker added four draw controls to her stat line. Kendra Haselow led the way with six ground balls along with a goal, while Maitland Luksan rounded out the Hamline scorers with one goal.
Justine Case made 12 saves in net for Hamline, while Northwestern's Daisy Koffler stopped eight shots.
The Pipers will travel to defending MWLC Regular Season Champion Lake Forest on Saturday, April 8 for an 11 a.m. game.
