The shots were 9-3 in Hamline's favor throughout the first half, but that didn't stop Morris from setting the tone as Carter Watkinson's goal in the 33rd minute gave them a 1-0 edge.

The second half proved to be deja vu as the shots also read 9-3 in favor of the Pipers. They'd capitalize on their chances this time around as Jonathan Bayer's goal in the 54th minute, followed by Drew Axel's score in the 59th gave Hamline a 2-1 lead. It proved to be short-lived, as Cade Simonson converted off a feed from Watkinson in the 63rd minute to knot the game at 2-2 for the Cougars.

Tomlinson Sterud's second goal of the season would come of the game-winning variety off an assist from Drew Axel in the 79th minute, which propelled Hamline to a 3-2 victory.

The Pipers, who were called for three-of-four yellow cards in the contest, out shot the Cougars 18-6.

Tomlinson Sterud and Drew Axel each had one goal and one assist for Hamline, while Watkinson accomplished that same feat for Morris. James Sondo and Belal Elghorab also tallied assists for Hamline.

Luke Rimington made two saves in net for Hamline, while Nick Isensee stopped five shots between the pipes for Morris.

The Pipers will travel to Lawrence on Saturday, September 9 for a 12 p.m. start.
