SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team made the trek down Snelling Avenue to Macalester for a rare Monday-night showdown. The Scots went on a 6-1 run at the tail end of regulation to knot the game at 54-54, before they concluded overtime with an 8-0 run that sealed them a 62-57 OT victory over the Pipers.
Hamline falls to 6-8, 4-6 MIAC, while Macalester improves to 7-7, 4-6 MIAC.
Macalester 62, Hamline 57 OT
The largest scoring margin of the contest was six points, which occurred on a pair of occasions. Both of those six-point leads belonged to Macalester, which included a 30-24 lead over the Pipers with 2:09 remaining in the second half. Michaela Stamer nailed all four of her free throw attempts within the final two minutes of the second quarter, which cut the Scots' lead to 30-28 at halftime.
The second half was more tightly contested with five lead changes, and five tied scores. The largest score margin of the second half was a five-point, 53-48 Hamline lead off Yasmeen Abed's jumper with 1:35 left in the fourth quarter. 
Peyton Starks' four made free throws highlighted a Macalester 6-1 run at the tail end of regulation that tied the game at 54-54.
Abed scored the first three points of overtime, which put Hamline in front 57-54 with 2:37 on the clock. The Scots shut out the Pipers with an 8-0 run to end the game and secure a 62-57 win.
Both teams combined for a subpar 5-of-32 mark from the three-point line, as well as 45 free throw attempts.
Starks notched a game-high 25 points off a 9-of-11 field goal mark, and a 7-of-8 clip from the free throw line. Stamer led Hamline with 12 points, followed by 11 from Abed. Lydia Lecher had nine points and a team-leading eight rebounds for Hamline.
The Pipers will host Bethel at Hutton Arena on Wednesday, January 17 at 7 p.m.
