SAINT PAUL, MINN - The Hamline University women's hockey team welcomed Saint Benedict to Tria Rink for a Saturday afternoon conference game. The Pipers get a convincing 4-1 victory over the Bennies with
Elizabeth Valley playing her 100th career game at Hamline. The Pipers had many key contributors today that led to their seventh straight win.Â

Hamline improves to 14-3, 9-1 in MIAC play, while Saint Benedict falls to 7-8-2, 3-5-2 in conference play.

The Bennies got the scoring started early with a goal at 17:42 from Aurora Opsahl to make the score 1-0. It took some time for the Pipers to get it going but once they had an opportunity, they took it. Senior forward
Haley Eder-Zdechlik scored a breakaway goal at 10:08 to tie the game at 1-1 with an assist from fifth-year senior captain
Elizabeth Valley. The Pipers had two power play chances in the opening frame and capitalized on one of them with a goal from freshman forward
Annabel Mehta at 2:56. The assist came from senior captain
Ally Steffensmeier to make the score 2-1 heading into the first intermission.Â

The second period was the opposite of the first, the goalies stole the show both with clean sheets to keep the score at 2-1 in favor of the Pipers. Each team had two penalties resulting in zero power play goals in the second. Goalies
Kendra Nordic for Hamline and Kate Moffat for Saint Benedict displayed some stellar saves throughout the period. The Pipers continued to pepper the net totaling 12 shots on goal compared to the Bennies 6.

The Pipers added onto their lead with a goal by
Nikki Olund and the assist going to
Syndey Lemke at 9:38 to make the score 3-1. Shortly after, Mehta scores her second of the day at 7:14 in the third period giving Hamline a 4-1 advantage. The Pipers outshot the Bennies 38 to 21 this afternoon which helped lead them to victory. Kendra Nordic was phenomenal in goal with 20 saves and only allowing 1 goal. Saint Benedict could not come up with a comeback resulting in a 4-1 Hamline victory.Â
