SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's soccer team capitalized on their sixth shutout of the season with a 3-0 decision over Martin Luther at Pat Paterson Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Pipers improve to 5-6-4 following their final non-conference match of the season, while the Knights fall to 4-8-1.
Hamline 3, Martin Luther 0
Eight individuals contributed points for Hamline, who out shot Martin Luther 12-1. Maya Dempsey recorded her fifth and sixth goals of the season in the eighth and 52nd minutes. Sandwiched between Dempsey's tallies was Alexi Schneider's second goal of the season in the 43rd minute.
Dempsey is the first Piper to score at least six goals in a season since 2017, when Kaley Roberts finished with 11, and Arendje Louter had seven.
Elysse Tanaka, Josie Carlson, Mia Silva, Anikka Shoholm, Addyson Barrett, and Kayla Ramirez each picked up an assist for Hamline.
First-year goalkeeper Cate Toal made one save over the first 45:00 in net for the Pipers, before Sarah Russell and Morgan Paumen each saw time in net throughout the second half and didn't record a save. Maria Vik stopped six shots between the pipes for Martin Luther.
Hamline will host St. Scholastica at Pat Paterson Field on Wednesday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m.
