ST. CATHERINE MEET RESULTS
SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University swimming & diving teams competed at the St. Catherine Pentathlon, and hosted their Diving Invite at the Bush Center Pool on Saturday. The Pipers women took fourth place with 605.5 points, while the men notched second place with 152 points at St. Kate's.
Sila Yurttas took second place out of 45 competitors with 260.50 points in the pentathlon for Hamline. Gus Shaffer was the top Piper on the men's side with a 12th-place score of 49.
For the women, Sila Yurttas registered first-place times of 1:03.48 in the 100 yard IM, and 1:12.21 in the 100 yard breaststroke. Sixth place was also in the cards for Yurttas, who notched a time of 1:02.51 in the 100 yard butterfly and a 1:05.88 in the 100 yard backstroke. She also added a fifth-place time of 57.19 in the 100 yard freestyle.Â
Gus Shaffer carried the men on his shoulders with a 10th-place time of 1:11.86 in the 100 yard breaststroke. He followed that with a pair of 12th-place times of 1:04.29 in the 100 yard backstroke, and 1:04.47 in the 100 yard IM. Tenth place was also in the cards for Nelsen-Manfred Poscher, who crossed the finish line at 54.21 in the 100 yard freestyle. He also followed Shaffer in the 100 yard backstroke, where he notched 13th place with a 1:05.34.
At the Hamline Diving Meet, Audrey Tschida registered scores of 128.xx in the women's 3 meter dive, a 124.10 in the 1-meter dive (six dives), and a 322.xx 1-meter dive (11 dives).
The Pipers will host the Hamline Relay Invite at the Bush Center Pool on Saturday, October 26 at 10 a.m.
