SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's hockey team opened their 2024-25 season with a school-record 73 shots on goal in their 6-0 shutout of Lawrence at TRIA Rink on Friday night. The previous school record was accomplished on November 23, 2019, when the Pipers fired 67 in a 5-1 victory at St. Olaf.
Hamline moves to 1-0, while Lawrence falls to 0-1.

A scoreless opening period resulted in a 22-0 shots on goal domination from the Pipers. It was a matter of time before Hamline found the back of the net as they took a 3-0 lead within the first five minutes of the second period thanks to Cailey McLaughlin at 00:28, Haley Eder-Zdechlik at 3:52, and Iyla Ryskamp on the power play at 4:34. Ryskamp netted her second goal of the game at 14:54 of the second, which widened the margin to 4-0.
Vikings goaltender Sarah Dobrzynski stopped 28 of her 67 shots in the third period, where the Pipers pushed their lead to 6-0 courtesy of Ashlyn Abrahamson at 14:47, and Nikki Olund at 15:49.
Ryskamp registered a two-goal performance for a Hamline squad who out shot Lawrence 73-4. Abrahamson notched one goal and two assists, while Eder-Zdechlik and Olund each had one goal and one assist. Nancy Benedict dished two assists, followed by one a piece from Erika Broten and Annabel Mehta.
Kendra Nordick stopped four shots in a complete-game shutout in net for Hamline.
The Pipers will eye a sweep of the Vikings at TRIA Rink tomorrow, Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m.
