Rams' Stellar Second-Half Shooting Sinks Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.--The Hamline University men's basketball fell to North Central (Minn.) 94-87 on Tuesday at Hutton Arena.

Hamline falls tof 3-2, while North Central improves to 4-2.

The first half was marked by a series of turnovers and free throws. Hamline capitalized on North Central's 10 turnovers, converting them into points, while also showing strength from the free-throw line, making 15-of-18 attempts. Brendan Ebel contributed with both steals and points, including a three-pointer that helped build an early Pipers lead. The Rams managed to stay competitive with a strong performance from beyond the arc, hitting five 3-pointers, but struggled with fouls, committing 10 in the half. By the end of the first half, Hamline had a 41-32 lead.

In the second half, North Central outscored Hamline 62-46, capitalizing on a strong showing from beyond the arc with 10 successful 3-pointers. The Rams' Nik Feller contributed significantly with multiple 3-pointers, while Remy Wedgeworth-Brown was active with both scoring and assisting. Daniel McCarrell had a notable half for Hamline, scoring consistently with layups and a 3-pointer. Despite Hamline's efforts, North Central extended their lead with consecutive scoring bursts towards the end, securing their advantage thanks to their 21-of-25 (.840) field goal percentage and 10-of-14 three-point mark in the second.

North Central finished the game 33-of-53 (.623) shooting and 15-of-25 from beyond the arch while Hamline shot 30-of-66 (.455) from the field.

Daniel McCarrell led the Pipers with 22 points, nine baskets made, and two steals. Brendan Ebel also made a significant impact, scoring 18 points with exceptional efficiency at the free-throw line, making 9-of-10 attempts. His playmaking skills were evident as he recorded five assists and two steals. Bradley Cimperman was another key player, adding 16 points, 8 of which came from free throws. Austin Holt showcased his defensive prowess with four steals, while also contributing 10 points and six rebounds. 

Malik Siggers led the team with 17 points, hitting 8-of-11 baskets, and contributed with six assists and two steals. Remy Wedgeworth-Brown was effective at the free-throw line, making 6-of-7 attempts, and added five assists to his 13-point game. Cameron Thomas showcased his defensive skills with two blocks in the game. Josh Hoffman made an impact with three 3-pointers and secured seven rebounds. Nik Feller was the top scorer, recording 22 points, including six 3-pointers.

The Pipers will travel to Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday, November 30 for a 3 p.m. game.
