SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University swim & dive teams competed in the Macalester Roger Ahlman Invite at the Riley Pool on Friday and Saturday.

"We were able to achieve 31 season bests, 19 of which were lifetime bests," said Pipers head swim & dive coach Alex Card. "We also have a shift in program history with Kevin Bossou tying for 10th best score for six dives in the 1-meter with a score of 234.50. It has been a decade since the program has made a mark on the top 10 in this event. We can expect Kevin to improve on this score in the second half of our season."

Bossou led the men with a first-place score of 403.00 in the 1-meter dive, and a second-place score of 364.40 in the 3-meter dive. Gus Shaffer prevailed with an eighth-place time of 2:15.75 in the 200 yard backstroke.

Sila Yurttas carried the women on her shoulders. She achieved fourth place in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.57, and fifth place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a 1:11.85.

"I'm very pleased with the results of the competition," said Card. "We had some relays that we couldn't compete in this time around which our score reflects the missing points. However, we made great strides in our relays and the personal bests show the program is working. The athletes are responding well to the training and I look forward to progressing our training come J-term."
