SARTELL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at Saint John's on Saturday afternoon.
The Pipers fall to 4-4, 0-4 MIAC, while the Johnnies improve to 1-0, 1-0 MIAC.
"Isaac was great tonight," said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "We are just coming up a few points short against playoff teams right now."
Saint John's 6, Hamline 3
The doubles portion saw Hamline escape with a 2-1 lead behind wins from Isaac Hultberg/Elijah Krause 8-4 at No. 1, and Tyler Rousslang/Rumeal Setts 8-4 at No. 2.
Hamline's lone singles win was a 6-3, 1-6, 10-8 decision from Hultberg at the No. 2 spot. The No. 1 spot saw Setts drop a close 2-6, 7-6, 10-4 score.
The Pipers will return to action on Sunday, March 3 against St. Olaf at InnerCity Tennis. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
