Auggies Take Game One Over No. 15 Pipers

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The No. 15 Hamline University women's hockey team hosted Augsburg at TRIA Rink on Friday night. Each period resulted in two goals. The opening periods saw each team notch a goal apiece, before the Auggies score both two unanswered third-period goals to secure a 4-2 victory over the Pipers.

Hamline falls to 16-6-0, 11-4-0 MIAC, while Augsburg improves to 16-6-0, 12-3-0 MIAC.

Augsburg 4, Hamline 2

The Pipers never led in the contest, but knotted the game on two occasions. Abigail Chamernick's goal at 16:16 of the first period made the score 1-1, before Nikki Olund's tally at 17:59 of the second frame made it 2-2 though 40:00 of play. Emily Cronkhite scored Augsburg's first two goals, which occurred at 13:23 of the first frame, and 7:09 of the second period on the short-hand.

Shots on goal in the third period were in favor of Hamline 8-7, but it was Augsburg who scored a pair of unanswered goals courtesy of Tenley Stewart at 1:01, and Claire Jenkins Coffman at 11:05.

Augsburg out shot Hamline 31-29.

Airika Penney stopped 27 shots in net for the Pipers, while Chloe Stockinger also made 27 saves for the Auggies.

Hamline will travel to Augsburg tomorrow, Saturday, February 10 for a 4 p.m. game.
