RIVER FALLS, WIS.—The Hamline University baseball team cruised to an 11-1 (7 innings) victory in a neutral site non-conference game at First Bank of America Field of River Falls on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pipers improve to 11-16, while the Rams fall to 1-18.
Hamline 11, North Central 1 (7 Innings)
Every inning outside the fourth resulted in at least one Piper run, highlighted by Tyler Johnson's three-run home run in the fifth inning. Seven of Hamline's nine starters recorded a hit, as they notched a 14-5 advantage in that category.
Johnson finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored, while four other Hamline players notched a two-hit outing. Braeden Bourne registered a 2-for-3 performance with a walk and two runs scored while Kyle Vanek, Stevie Schmitt, and Finn Melchior also each had two hits. Vanek's stat line also included two RBI.
Hamline starting pitcher Conor Mestemacher allowed just one hit over the first four innings, before Melchior surrendered four hits over three frames in a winning decision.
The Pipers will return to action on Wednesday, April 17, when they'll face St. Scholastica (DH) on the road at 2:30 p.m.
