MILWAUKEE, WIS.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team snapped a five-game losing skid with a 16-5 victory at MSOE on Sunday afternoon. This is MSOE's first year with a varsity women's lacrosse program.
The Pipers improve to 6-6, while the Raiders fall to 3-6.Â
Hamline 16, MSOE 5
It was all MSOE during the opening stage of the contest, as they out shot Hamline 4-2 and forced three turnovers over the opening 7:14 of play. Three of the Raiders' shots found the back courtesy of Vayda Flower at 11:25 and 10:10, and Joce Katte with 7:46 remaining, which gave the Raiders a 3-1 lead. This provoked a Hamline timeout.
The breather paid dividends for the Pipers, who responded with an 8-0 run that gave them a 9-3 cushion with 7:08 remaining in the second quarter. Analisa Aragon and Maitland Luksan each scored two goals during that run. The Raiders notched just two more goals from that point forward in a 16-5 loss to the Pipers.
Aragon led the way with three goals and two assists, followed by Luksan's three goals and one assist. Lily Uhl, Courtney Parker, and Avery Wilson each contributed two goals.
Sophia Warner led the way with four ground balls. Rachel Fussy and Ema Rehder each had two caused turnovers.
Hamline out shot MSOE 25-22.
Lola Brouwer made 11 saves in net for the Pipers, while Megan Lacina recorded two stops for the Raiders.
Hamline will host Augsburg at Klas Field on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m.
