Bennies Sweep Pipers

ST. JOSEPH, MINN.—The Hamline University softball team dropped a pair of road games at Saint Benedict by scores of 10-2 (5 innings) and 2-1.

The Pipers fall to 14-16, 4-12 MIAC, while the Bennies improve to 18-13, 12-2 MIAC.

Saint Benedict 10, Hamline 2 (Game One) (5 Innings)

A first-inning home run, and a nine-run fifth frame secured the Bennies a 10-2 (5 Innings) victory.

The lone multi-hit Piper was Jenna Rubbelke, who was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Josephine Cariveau, Gabby Tuhy, Savannah Johnson, and Madisen Borek each had one hit for the Pipers, who were out hit 11-7.

Montana Miller pitched the first four innings for Hamline, before Gracie Bond came in for the final frame.

Saint Benedict 2, Hamline 1 (Game Two)

The Pipers set the tone in the third inning, when Abigail Chamernick led off with a triple and scored on Josephine Cariveau's sacrifice fly to make the score 1-0.

That margin remained until a two-run fifth inning for the Bennies, courtesy of Bryn Ruhberg's two-run single that put them in front 2-1.

Chamernick was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, while Maddie Johnson finished 2-for-3.

Natalee Boelk was solid in the pitching circle, and got help from the Hamline defense. She allowed four hits, and just two runs over six complete innings.

The Pipers will host Carleton (DH) at Meredith Field on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
