MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.—The Hamline University baseball team dropped a pair of games at Augsburg (DH) by scores of 7-2 and 4-3 on Saturday.
The Pipers fall to 14-21, 6-10 MIAC, while the Auggies improve to 9-21, 6-12 MIAC.
Augsburg 7, Hamline 2 (Game One)
Every inning except the first resulted in at least one Augsburg run, as they ran away with a 7-2 victory.
Mac Enlow paced Hamline at the plate with a 2-for-3 outing that included a double and one run scored. Finn Melchior registered an RBI-double, while Caden Erickson, Kyle Vanek, and Braeden Bourne also each contributed a hit. Two walks were drawn by Nick Zezulka.
Hans Christensen V and Dalton Maxwell combined to give up nine hits and seven runs on the pitching mound.
Augsburg 4, Hamline 3 (11 Innings) (Game Two)
Two lead changes occurred in the contest.Â
Augsburg led off the game with back-to-back hits courtesy of Stanley Regguinti and Ty Gage. Adam Marshall knocked in Regguniti from third base off a sacrifice fly, which gave the Auggies a 1-0 lead.Â
Max Gerstner led off the second inning with a hit by pitch before he stole second and third base. Bourne's RBI-single drove in Gerstner to knot the score at 1-1. Gerstner gave the Pipers a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, where he led off with a triple and scored off Bourne's sacrifice fly.
RBI singles from Gage and Marshall gave the Auggies a 3-2 lead in the seventh frame. Gerstner responded with an eighth-inning RBI-double that scored Kyle Vanek, who pinch ran following Mac Enlow's single, to tie the game 3-3.Â
The Auggies secured a 4-3 win in the 11th inning, when Regguniti singled, advanced to second base off Gage's sacrifice bunt, and scored off Marshall's RBI-single.
Gerstner went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and an RBI for the Pipers, who finished with 10 hits. Melchior finished 2-for-5 with a double.
Parker Leipzig and Josh Cary combined to give up 12 hits and four runs on the pitching mound for Hamline.
The Pipers will play Augsburg in a single non-conference outing at Parade Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
