Head Women's Volleyball Coach Maggie Meixl Resigns

5/15/2024 3:22:00 PM

Head Volleyball Coach Maggie Meixl has announced her resignation after leading the program through seven seasons.

Meixl has been a member of the Pipers women's volleyball staff for the past nine seasons. The last seven of those were as head coach, where she became the all-time winningest coach in the program with 70 victories. Meixl was named 2021 MIAC Volleyball Coach of the Year after the Pipers achieved 20 victories for just the second time in program history. It resulted in earning a program-first NCAA Regional Ranking and their first MIAC Tournament appearance since 2013, where they secured their second-ever postseason victory with a 3-2 decision over Saint Benedict in Hutton Arena on November 3, 2021.

Under Meixl's tutelage, the Hamline women's volleyball program has produced a MIAC Rookie of the Year, MIAC Defensive Player of the Year, six MIAC All-Conference picks, four MIAC Athlete of the Week performances, eight school records and two AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention honors.

Forty of Meixl's scholar-athletes received MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition during her time at the helm of the program, a record 12 earning the honor during the 2023 season which also resulted in a program-record 3.82 team GPA and the program's first CSC Academic All-District selection. Each of her seven teams have been awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award with some meriting Honor Roll distinction for posting a team GPA in the top 20% of all Division III Volleyball programs in the nation.

"I want to thank Maggie for all that she has done for the Hamline Volleyball program, our student-athletes and Hamline University," Director of Athletics, Alex Focke said.  "Her teams saw success in the classroom and on the court and we thank her for her commitment to the program."

A national search for the new head volleyball coach will begin immediately.
