RIPON, WIS.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the Ripon Tournament on Saturday with a 3-1 loss (20-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-14) to Carroll (Wis.), and a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-18) victory over the host Redhawks.
The Pipers, who went 3-1 over the two-day event, move to 5-7 on the season.

Elizabeth Lopata had a monster opening set that consisted of five kills and two service aces, which powered Hamline to a 25-20 victory in set one.
The Pipers combined to hit just -.032, and over the final three sets, where the Pioneers secured 25-16, 25-17, and 25-14 wins en route to a 3-1 match victory.
Lopata paced Hamline with nine kills, three service aces, and three assisted blocks. Lauren Wilborn was efficient with a team-leading .238 hitting percentage that included seven kills, two errors, and 21 total attempts. Riley Melby also had seven kills. The offense was ran by Kaitlyn Kotek, who distributed 22 assists.
Jenna Rubbelke had a game-high 26 digs for the Pipers, while Grace Bathurst led the Pipers at the net with four total blocks along with six kills.
Bronwyn Rowse finished with a game-high 12 kills for Carroll (Wis.).
Hamline 3, Ripon 1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-18)
The opening set resulted in a 5-1 lead for the Pipers. That ignited a Ripon squad that responded with five kills, and capitalized on seven Hamline errors that made up their 13-4 run that put them in the driver's seat at 14-9. The Pipers came back to tie the match on four more occasions, but never led again in a 25-23 loss.
The final three frames saw Hamline combine to hit .269 after Ripon had the upper hand in that category in the first set. It powered the Pipers to 25-19, 25-12, and 25-18 victories that locked them a 3-1 match win.
Grace Bathurst erupted for 14 kills, a .571 hitting percentage, and three total blocks. Lindsay Eckelman was efficient with a .733 hitting mark that consisted of 11 kills, and was dominant at the net with four assisted blocks.Â
The Pipers had 11 service aces, led by three apiece from Jenna Rubbelke and Mandy Dierks. Rubbelke led the way with 17 digs. Kaitlyn Kotek posted 38 assists for Hamline.
Ellie Ovie had a game-high 15 kills for Ripon.
The Pipers will return to action on Tuesday, September 17 at North Central (Minn.). Match time is set for 7 p.m.
