SAINT PAUL, MINN.--The Hamline University men's hockey team fell to Concordia University Wisconsin 5-1 at TRIA Rink on Saturday afternoon.
The Pipers fall to 3-10, while the Falcons improve to 9-6.

The opening frame began with a faceoff win for Hamline, but the Falcons quickly gained momentum. The first goal occurred at 14:10 when Riley Klugerman scored an even-strength tally with assists from Logan Kroyman and Dain Sardelli, putting the Falcons up 1-0. Later in the period, with Hamline on a power play, Garrett McArthur scored a short-handed goal at 17:48, assisted by Sawyer Wirsing and Noah Roitman, extending the Falcons' lead to 2-0. Despite several missed shots and saves by both teams, the Pipers were unable to capitalize, leaving the at score 2-0.
The second period began with the Falcons winning the initial faceoff and quickly putting pressure on Hamline, with Connor Van Weelie and Noah Roitman both attempting shots early on, though neither was successful.
Brandon McNamara was called for tripping at 1:56, giving the Falcons a power play, but the Pipers managed to kill the penalty without conceding a goal. Concordia broke through at 10:16 with an unassisted goal by Devon Savignac, increasing their lead. Near the period's end,
Harvey Dove's penalty resulted in a power play goal by Derek Humphreys at 19:20, bringing the score to 4-0.
The third period began with both teams exchanging control as Hamline'sÂ
Cal Levis III won the opening faceoff, followed by the Falcons' Connor Van Weelie winning the next at 00:07. The Pipers struggled with accuracy early, with
Calvin Knight and
Jonah Mortenson missing shots, while the Falcons also had several missed opportunities, including wide shots by Mi-Kwan Tallman and Riley Klugerman. A significant moment occurred at 8:37 when Riley Klugerman scored a power-play goal for Concordia, assisted by Levi Carter, extending their cushion to 5-0. Hamline managed to respond late in the period, with
Jack Whitmore Jr. notching a power-play tally at 19:01, assisted by
Calvin Knight and
Nicolas Haviar, reducing the Falcons' lead to 5-1.
Three of the Falcons' goals occurred on special teams, two on the power play and one shorthanded. They out shot the Pipers 26-23, and got 22 saves in net from goaltender Gabe Rosek.
Trevor Wong stopped 21 shots between the pipes for Hamline.
Brandon McNamara stood out for the Pipers with a faceoff win percentage of 75%, winning six out of eight attempts.
Jack Whitmore Jr. was effective on special teams, scoring the team's only power-play goal. Tommy Carls also performed well in the faceoff circle, winning 70% of his faceoffs by securing seven out of ten.
Riley Klugerman was  impactful, scoring two goals, including one on a power play, while Garrett McArthur stood out for the Falcons with on shorthanded tally. Derek Humphreys was another notable player with one goal. Connor Van Weelie excelled in faceoffs, achieving a 73% win percentage, the highest on the team, which was crucial in gaining and maintaining possession. Lastly, Alex Ochtiwa contributed with a 61% faceoff win percentage, complementing the team's overall performance in this area.
The Pipers will resume MIAC play at St. Olaf on Friday, January 10 at 7 p.m.
