SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline University (6-1-0, 3-1-0) was defeated by Bethel University (MN) (3-3-0, 1-3-0), 4-0, at the Blaine Super Rink. Hamline managed 29 shots on goal but could not find the back of the net, while Bethel secured the win with a three-goal second period.
The game commenced with the Pipers pressing early, highlighted by
Averie Martin's two attempts on goal within the opening minutes, both saved by Bethel's goalkeeper. Hamline's persistent offensive efforts were evident, with
Abigail Chamernick contributing multiple shots, though they were also halted by Bethel's defense. Midway through the period, Hamline faced a penalty but effectively neutralized Bethel's power play, with
Harper Powell making key saves. Hamline then gained a power play opportunity of their own but was unable to capitalize as the period concluded. The first period ended with the score tied at 0–0, with both teams showing solid defensive play.
The second period began with the Pipers controlling the faceoff but unable to capitalize on early possession. Despite several attempts, Bethel struck first with a goal by Rylen Kissell, assisted by Sophie Martin, giving them a 1-0 lead. Hamline responded with pressure, earning a power play, but Bethel's defense and goaltending held firm, maintaining their lead. Midway through the second period, Bethel extended their advantage with Beth Velasco Vincent scoring, assisted by Brayley VanDenBerg, bringing the score to 2-0. Hamline continued to push forward, generating multiple shots on goal, but Bethel's defense remained resolute. In the final moments, Bethel widened the gap further with a goal from Alison Hoerer, assisted by Kallie Abrahamson Tibbetts, concluding the period with Bethel leading 3-0.
Hamline started the third period with a series of offensive attempts, including shots from
Ashlyn Abrahamson and
Lauren Hornstein, but Bethel's goalie, Ashley Gustafson Hess, stopped the initial threats. Despite a strong defensive effort, including a block by
