SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (3-0-0) dominated the University of Wisconsin-Superior (0-3-0) with a decisive 9–1 victory, fueled by a strong power-play performance with two goals.
Hamline initiated the first period with strong faceoff control, and early shots from
Iyla Ryskamp and others set an aggressive tone.
Ellie Newpower capitalized on this momentum, scoring unassisted at 13:56 to give the Pipers a 1-0 lead.
Brooke Klemz extended the advantage with a goal assisted by
Abigail Chamernick and
Nina Thorson at 11:59.
Despite a penalty that temporarily shifted the momentum, the Pipers maintained a solid defensive presence, with
Harper Powell making key saves to preserve the lead. The period concluded with Hamline ahead 2-0, maintaining control and setting a solid foundation for the remainder of the game.
Hamline capitalized on a power-play opportunity early in the second period with
Ashlyn Abrahamson scoring at 14:04, assisted by
Maddy Belisle and
Ellie Newpower, extending their lead. The home team continued to apply pressure, and
Annika Lindgren added another goal at 12:49, with assists from
Annabel Mehta and
Macy Peterson, pushing the score to 4–0.
Late in the period, Hamline's offensive momentum persisted.
Iyla Ryskamp netted an even-strength goal at 1:27, assisted by Abrahamson and
Calie Peterson, furthering the advantage. Just before the end of the period, Grace Delmonico scored with 6 seconds remaining, assisted by
Averie Martin, closing the period with Hamline leading 6–0.
The Pipers opened the third period with a decisive push, extending their lead with a goal from
Abigail Chamernick at 16:06, assisted by
Ashlyn Abrahamson. The team maintained momentum, as
Nina Thorson scored at 10:41 with help from
Lily Svajgl and
Brooke Klemz, increasing the advantage further.
Calie Peterson capitalized on a power play opportunity, scoring unassisted at 6:12 to make it 9–0. Hamline continued to control the pace, successfully killing penalties and maintaining defensive pressure. Despite a last-second goal by the Yellowjackets' Brook Monicken, Hamline concluded the period with a commanding 9–1 victory.
Abrahamson led the team with a goal and two assists, contributing to a total of three points and converting one power-play opportunity. Klemz scored the game-winning goal and added an assist, while winning 10 of 15 face-offs. Chamernick recorded both a goal and an assist, as well as a plus-minus of +3. Powell was strong in goal, making 19 saves and allowing only one goal.
The Pipers will begin MIAC play next weekend, as they take on Saint Mary's in a home-and-home series on November 14 and 15.
