SAINT PAUL, MINN.--The Hamline University men's basketball team defeated Carleton 92-59 on Wednesday at Hutton Arena, behind
Bradley Cimperman's season-high 35 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the three-point line and 13-of-15 from the field. The Pipers nailed 16-of-27 three-points as a team, a modern-day school record.
The Pipers improve to 14-9, 10-4 MIAC, while the Knights fall to 14-8, 7-6 MIAC.
Hamline 92, Carleton 59
In the first half, Hamline took an early lead with
Bradley Cimperman scoring a 3-pointer at the outset. Carleton's Sam Koelling responded with a 3-pointer of his own, keeping the game tied at 3-3. At 15:05,
Brendan Ebel's free throw evened the score again at 11-11. A significant momentum shift occurred when Hamline went on an 11-0 run, highlighted by
Raoul Vaidya and
Bradley Cimperman's 3-pointers, extending their lead to 32-19 with 7:50 remaining. The half concluded with the Pipers maintaining control, leading 46-29, as
Austin Holt and
Brendan Ebel each contributed key layups to secure the advantage going into the next half.
Hamline outscored Carleton 46-30 in the second half, highlighted by a strong shooting performance from
Bradley Cimperman, who made multiple 3-pointers. Early in the half,
Austin Holt recorded two blocks and a defensive rebound, contributing to the Pipers' defensive efforts. Spencer Goetz of the Knights had a notable layup and jumper, but faced challenges including a turnover and a missed layup. In the final minutes,
Raoul Vaidya facilitated Hamline's offense with several assists, while Carleton's Will Breall added points through a layup and a free throw, yet the Pipers maintained a commanding lead in a 92-59 win.
Hamline finished the game .532 (33-of-62) from the field.
Bradley Cimperman led the Pipers with 35 points, hitting 13-of-15 field goals and 9-of-11 three-pointers.
Austin Holt contributed with a strong defensive effort, recording nine rebounds and two blocks, while also adding five assists.
Brendan Ebel showcased his defensive skills with four steals and two blocks, alongside scoring six points.
Daniel McCarrell was effective as a playmaker, dishing out five assists and scoring eight points.
Raoul Vaidya also added 10 points and matched McCarrell with five assists.
Luke Harris led the Knights with fifteen points, making seven of his sixteen field goal attempts and contributing three assists. Sam Koelling added eleven points, hitting four of nine shots, including two 3-pointers, and collected four rebounds. Spencer Goetz also contributed with eight points and five rebounds, providing a solid presence on the court.
Hamline will face Bethel on the road on Saturday, February 15 at 3 p.m.
