SAINT PAUL, MINN.--The Hamline University women's hockey team secured their second-straight 5-0 victory over Concordia (Minn.) at TRIA Rink on Saturday, marking their sixth-straight victory against the Cobbers.
The Pipers improve to 13-8-0, 8-6-0 MIAC, while the Cobbers fall to 4-17-0, 3-11-0 MIAC.

The first period was characterized by a strong defensive performance from both teams, resulting in no goals scored. The Pipers' offensive efforts were prominent, as they took numerous shots on goal, with
Cailey McLaughlin and
Iyla Ryskamp among those frequently testing Cobbers goalie, Ashlea Arvidson, who made several crucial saves. Concordia managed to create some opportunities during power plays, especially following penalties on
Jaime Hort and
Nikki Olund, but Hamline goalie
Harper Powell successfully kept them out. Late in the period, the Cobbers faced a penalty for having too many players on the ice, giving the Pipers a power play, but they were unable to capitalize before the period ended.
The second period began with Hamline taking control early, winning the initial faceoff and maintaining pressure with multiple shots, including one by
Haley Eder-Zdechlik that went wide. A power-play opportunity for the Pipers at 3:45 led to a goal by
Nikki Olund at 5:29, assisted by Eder-Zdechlik, marking her sixth goal of the season. After a penalty on
Annabel Mehta gave the Cobbers a power play, Hamline's defense held firm, with
Harper Powell making several saves. The period concluded with two late goals for Hamline, one by
Iyla Ryskamp at 19:43 and another by
Cailey McLaughlin at 19:56, extending their lead to 3-0.
The third frame began with a quick goal by
Erika Broten at 00:45, assisted by
Morgan Wohlers and
Cailey McLaughlin, increasing the Pipers' lead to 4-0. Shortly after, at 3:39,
Brooke Klemz scored another goal, with assists from
Erika Broten and
Annika Lindgren, bringing the margin to 5-0. Throughout the frame, the Pipers maintained offensive pressure with numerous shots on goal, but Concordia goalie Ashlea Arvidson made several saves to prevent further scoring. Despite a power play opportunity following a penalty on Hamline's
Kylie Huseth, the Cobbers were unable to capitalize, and the game ended with Hamline winning 5-0.
Iyla Ryskamp had a strong performance with a goal and a 66% faceoff win percentage for the Pipers.
Nikki Olund paced the team in several categories, including scoring a game-winning goal, and maintaining a 72% faceoff win percentage.
Averie Martin boasted a team-high plus-minus of +3 and contributed defensively with two blocked shots.
Erika Broten was effective offensively, recording two points with one goal and one assist, while also maintaining a plus-minus of +3.
Harper Powell was solid in goal, recording 14 saves.
The Pipers out shot the Cobbers 37-14.
Abbey Reule stood out for the Cobbers with a faceoff win percentage of 63, winning 12--of-19 attempts. Memphis Mertens was another key player, leading the team with three shots and two assists, contributing to her overall shotline of one goal, two assists, and zero penalties. Anna Nelson was notable on defense, blocking three shots while maintaining a neutral plus-minus rating. In goal, Ashlea Arvidson was active, making 31 saves.
Hamline will host St. Catherine at TRIA Rink on Friday, February 14 at 6 p.m.
