Pipers Fall to Blugolds in First Ever WIAC Contest

EAU CLAIRE, WIS.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team dropped a 23-3 road decision to UW-Eau Claire in their first-ever WIAC contest on Wednesday evening.

The Pipers fall to 2-5, 0-1 WIAC, while the Blugolds improve to 4-4, 1-1 WIAC.

Reagan Zywicki and Avery Wilson each had one goal and one assist for the Pipers, who finished the game a perfect 8-for-8 on clears. Emma Collins also had a goal for Hamline. Ema Rehder had a team-leading eight ground balls, while Lauren Moorhouse led the way with six draw controls.

Eau Claire out shot Hamline 33-18. The Blugolds were led by Reagan Werner's five goals and three assists. Alexie Romanelli was the game's top player with four goals, two assists, four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and seven draw controls.

Lola Brouwer made seven saves in net for Hamline, while Eau Claire's Alexandria Shea stopped eight shots.

The Pipers will travel to Colorado College on Saturday, March 29. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. (MT).
