SAINT PAUL, MINN.—For just the third time in program history and the first since April 19, 2011, the Hamline University women's tennis team defeated Saint Benedict as they prevailed by a 6-3 decision at the Holt Courts on Wednesday.
The Pipers' other victory over the Bennies occurred on May 2, 1977. Hamline improves to 9-5, 2-3 MIAC, while Saint Benedict falls to 5-7, 2-4 MIAC.Â
"Gigantic win for the women today," said Pipers head tennis coach Spencer Jones. "First win over Saint Ben's in a long long time! We played the cleanest doubles that I have ever seen this team play to start off 3-0 and then fought like animals in every singles match. Special recognition to Christine Muller, Vanessa Pham, and Cora Andersen for having undefeated days!"
