Pipers Blank Cougars 6-0

MORRIS, Minn. — The Hamline University women's soccer team dominated the Minnesota Morris in a decisive 6-0 victory at Cougar Field, with the Pipers scoring four goals in the first half.

The Pipers improve to 2-1-2, while the Cougars fall to 1-4-1.

Hamline took an early lead, opening the scoring in the first minute with a goal from Addyson Barrett, assisted by Elysse Tanaka. The Pipers dominated the offensive play, with Barrett scoring her second goal at the 18th minute, assisted by Danna Garcia, followed by a goal from Christin Broyles less than a minute later, assisted by Barrett. Reese Keiffer extended the lead to 4-0 with a goal in the 32nd minute. Minnesota Morris managed a shot attempt by Ashlynn Pollreisz in the 19th minute, but it was saved by Piper goalkeeper, Isabella Jensen.

The Pipers extended their lead in the second half with a goal from Ellie Nhean in the 59th minute, increasing their advantage to 5-0. Despite multiple attempts by Minnesota Morris, including shots by Brianna Ganske and Pollreisz, they were unable to find the back of the net. Desteny Delgado scored another goal in the 85th minute, assisted by Gabby Torres, sealing the game at 6-0. The half was marked by a series of fouls from both teams, with Hamline's Cate Toal making crucial saves to maintain the shutout.

Barrett scored two goals, including the game-winner, and assisted on another, leading the offensive effort for Hamline. Keiffer contributed with one goal on three shots, two of which were on target. Garcia added an assist and led the team in total shots with four, putting two on goal. Toal secured the backline with two saves in the second half, maintaining the clean sheet with a total of five shots faced. Jensen recorded one save in the first half for the Pipers, who out shot Morris 20-6.

CJ Frear-Boerner recorded five saves for Minnesota Morris, facing 20 shots and allowing six goals. Emma Buzinec made an impact on defense with one shot on goal, while Pollreisz led the offensive efforts with three shots, two of which were on goal.

The Pipers will travel to Bethany Lutheran on Saturday, September 13 for a 3:30 p.m. match.
