Win Streak Moves To Five With Shutout of Kohawks

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Hamline University soccer team secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Coe College at Paterson Field, with Hamline's goalkeeper achieving a shutout with six saves. With this victory, the Pipers pushed their win streak to five games.

The Pipers extended its unbeaten streak to 5-0-1, while the Kohawks fall to 2-1-2 after the loss.

Hamline took a 1-0 lead into halftime against the Kohawks, with Johanso Camacho scoring the lone goal in the 14th minute, assisted by Edgar Flores Vasquez. The Pipers dominated offensively, posting six shots to the Kohawks' four, while Flores Vasquez led the team with three shots, two of which required saves by Coe's goalkeeper, William Shaw. Alec Setterberg kept a clean sheet for Hamline, making three saves, as both teams battled through a tense first half with four corner kicks each.

Hamline secured a decisive victory over Coe with a strong second half, notching two goals to seal the match 3-0. Lal Mawia broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute with an assist from Augustine Feika, and Chris Palma extended the lead with a successful penalty kick shortly after. Hamline's defense held firm, with goalkeeper Alec Setterberg recording multiple saves, while the Kohawks struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, failing to find the back of the net.

Hamline out shot Coe 17-12.

Setterberg secured a shutout for the Pipers with six saves over 90 minutes. Flores Vasquez contributed an assist and took three shots, two of which were on goal. Camacho found the net once, making four of his five shots on target. Palma converted his sole shot into a goal, marking his influence in the match.

Shaw stood out with eight saves in goal for Coe, facing 17 shots and allowing three goals. Brandon Kostelny led the attack with six shots, placing four of them on target. Alan Losoya contributed defensively while also attempting two shots from his position.

The Pipers will host Grinnell at Pat Paterson Field on Sunday, September 14 at 11 a.m.
