ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Hamline University women's volleyball team emerged victorious over Augustana (IL) with a 3-1 win on Saturday at Carver PE Center, rallying after dropping the first set to claim the match 20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18.
Hamline holds an overall record of 4-5 following their recent victory. Augustana (IL) stands at 3-5 for the season.

Hamline fell behind early in the first set against Augustana (IL), with the Vikings capitalizing on several attack errors to race to a 5-0 lead. The Pipers managed a rally midway through the set with a series of service aces, including two consecutive from
Lexi Helmin, narrowing the deficit to 20-14. Despite Hamline's efforts and a total of four service aces in the set, Augustana ultimately secured a 25-20 victory, aided by Lanah Queckboerner's strong performance at the net.
Hamline secured a tight second set victory over the Vikings with a 25-22 scoreline, demonstrating resilience and capitalizing on errors. Key contributions included
Sophia Johnson's three kills, while
Cameryn Sand facilitated the offense with multiple assists, including crucial setups for
Grace Bathurst and Helmin. The Vikings struggled with attack errors, committing several in critical moments, which hampered their efforts to maintain a lead.
The Pipers took the third set 25-19 against Augustana, powered by a late surge that included a 6-0 run to close the match. Bathurst led the offensive efforts with five kills in the set, while Sand provided steady setting with multiple assists. Augustana struggled with errors, committing five attack errors and two ball handling errors, ultimately aiding Hamline's decisive victory in the set.
Hamline secured the fourth set with a 25-18 victory over the Vikings, highlighted by
Claire Kaups and Johnson's dominant performances. Hamline capitalized on Augustana's errors, with Kaups contributing crucial kills, including a service ace during a 6-1 run early in the set. The Pipers effectively countered Augustana's momentum, benefiting from multiple errors, including six service errors, while Sand facilitated the offense with numerous assists.
Bathurst led Hamline with 14 kills on 28 attempts, contributing 15 points. Sand was pivotal in setting up plays with 39 assists in four sets. Helmin recorded four service aces, adding to her total of 9.5 points.
Mandy Dierks remained strong defensively, posting 18 digs across the match.
