Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Fireworks Ends in Draw On the Road

Eau Claire, WI - In a thrilling road matchup, the Hamline Women's Soccer squad played to a 2-2 draw against UW-Eau Claire.

UW-Eau Claire got on the board first, with Jayda Swopes scoring her first goal of the season just over six minutes into the game. She was assisted by Abby Nordquist. The Blugolds' lead didn't last long, as the Pipers responded with two unanswered goals. Hamline's comeback started in the 26th minute when Addyson Barrett scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season, assisted by Jayden Hernandez.

The Pipers then took the lead with a goal from Alexis Geary, her second of the year, assisted by Elysse Tanaka. The goal came in the 38th minute, putting Hamline ahead 2-1 into the half.
The second half picked up right where the first left off as the Blugolds capitalized on the equalizer when Emma Donovan scored in the 46th minute. This goal, Donovan's third of the season, leveled the score at 2-2 early in the 2nd. The Pipers' defense held strong, preventing the Blugolds from breaking the tie.

Similarly, the UW-Eau Claire defense successfully defended against Hamline's offensive pushes, and the score remained 2-2 through the final whistle.

The draw is a quality result for the Pipers. With three consecutive MIAC matches on deck, Hamline will look to make their mark in the conference standings.  Saint Mary's travels to Saint Paul for a showdown on Pat Patterson FIeld this Saturday, September, 27th at 3:30pm.
