Macy Peterson Nets Game-Winning Goal in 5–2 Win Over Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Hamline (12-2-0, 6-1-0) defeated St. Olaf College (7-7-0, 4-3-0) with a 5–2 victory. The Pipers outshot their opponent 47-16, securing the win with a short-handed goal and an empty-net goal.

Hamline opened the first period with strong offensive pressure, generating multiple shot attempts early on. Annabel Mehta put the Pipers on the scoreboard first with an unassisted goal at 13:12. Grace Delmonico then extended the lead with another unassisted tally at 9:42. Hamline continued to control the pace, keeping their opponents' offense at bay. Despite facing a late penalty, the Pipers maintained a 2–0 lead at the close of the period.

The second period saw a shift in momentum as Hamline responded decisively to St. Olaf's early goal to cut the deficit in half. St. Olaf made it 2-1 with a goal by Julia Larson at 17:17. However, the Pipers regained the two goal advantage at 12:06 when Macy Peterson scored, assisted by Mehta, marking the game-winning goal. The momentum continued with Brooke Klemz capitalizing on a short-handed opportunity at 10:33 to extend the lead to three goals. Despite St. Olaf's response with a power-play goal by Bryn Etzell at 10:09, the Pipers maintained control, successfully closing the period with a 4–2 advantage.

Hamline initiated the third period with consistent offensive pressure, generating multiple shot attempts early on. Despite several missed opportunities, Calie Peterson and her teammates kept pressing, forcing the opposing goalie, Baylyn Shankman, to make several saves.

Midway through the period, Hamline called a timeout and continued to maintain control of the puck. A power play opportunity arose, but it was short-lived due to a penalty on Peterson. Hamline sustained their pressure, which culminated in an empty-net goal by Ashlyn Abrahamson, assisted by Ellie Newpower, with 20 seconds remaining. The period concluded with Hamline extending their lead and securing a 5–2 victory.

Mehta scored once and added an assist, contributing to her team's offensive efforts. Macy Peterson netted the game-winning goal and finished with a +2 rating. Abigail Chamernick posted a +3 rating and led the team with six shots on goal. Abrahamson and Delmonico each added a goal, rounding out the scoring for Hamline.

The Pipers will close out the series with St. Olaf at home on Saturday afternoon at TRIA Rink, with puck drop scheduled for 3 PM!
