Hamline Secures 2-0 Shutout Victory Over Augsburg

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (4-11-3, 4-4-2) blanked Augsburg University (5-11-3, 2-6-2), 2–0, at their home rink. Hamline's goaltender recorded 29 saves, securing the shutout victory.

The first period began with a faceoff win by Hamline's Will Matzke, setting a competitive tone. Hamline's Andrew Ralston and Joe Greniuk each had shots early in the period but were unable to find the back of the net, as Augsburg's Alex Timmons made crucial saves. Augsburg's Kyler Kleven and Griffin Ayotte tested Hamline's goalie, Cade Chapman, but Chapman stood firm, keeping the period scoreless. Despite a power play opportunity for Augsburg following a penalty on Hamline's Calvin Knight, both teams ended the period tied at 0, with solid defensive efforts from both sides.

Hamline took the lead at 18:19 of the second period when Jack Lambert scored a power-play goal, assisted by Brock Carls and Tristen May-Robinson. The period featured numerous scoring opportunities, with Hamline maintaining offensive pressure through 18 shots, but Augsburg's goaltender, Alex Timmons, made several key saves. Augsburg responded with shots of their own, but Cade Chapman in goal for Hamline stopped every attempt to maintain the shutout. A late penalty against Hamline gave Augsburg a power play, but the period ended without further scoring, leaving Hamline with a 1-0 lead.

In a tightly contested third period, Hamline maintained their lead despite Augsburg's persistent offensive efforts. Augsburg's Kyler Kleven and Logan Gravink each managed shots early, but Chapman remained solid in goal for Hamline. A key moment came at 18:30 when AJ Carls scored an empty-net goal, assisted by Brock Carls, solidifying Hamline's advantage. Despite a late roughing penalty on Dom Thomas, Augsburg was unable to capitalize on the power play, and the game concluded with Hamline securing a 2-0 victory.

Jack Lambert scored the game-winning goal on the power play and won 69% of his faceoffs. Brock Carls recorded two assists and won 66% of his faceoffs. Charles Levis won 60% of his faceoffs and blocked two shots. AJ Carls added a goal and contributed three shots on goal. Cade Chapman made 29 saves to secure the shutout.
