Pipers Dominate Offense in 5-1 Win Against Saint Benedict

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (15-3-1, 9-2-1) defeated the College of Saint Benedict (11-4-4, 6-3-3), 5–1, with a strong offensive performance at home. The Pipers fired 38 shots on goal, securing the win with two goals each in the second and third periods.

Hamline opened the first period with strong offensive pressure, securing multiple faceoff wins and generating several shot attempts. Despite early misses, the team maintained momentum, with Nordick making crucial saves to keep Saint Benedict scoreless.s the period progressed, Hamline continued to challenge the opposing goalie, Badali, with shots from Thorson and Chamernick. The persistent efforts paid off at the 19:00 mark when Lindgren scored, assisted by Chamernick, giving the Pipers a 1-0 lead to close the period.

Hamline extended their lead early in the second period with Delmonico scoring at 17:21, assisted by Thorson. This goal marked Delmonico's 10th of the season. Hamline maintained offensive pressure, with Ryskamp adding an unassisted goal at 08:25, bringing her season tally to five. Despite several attempts from Saint Benedict, the Pipers' defense held firm, with Nordick making key saves. The period concluded with Hamline holding a solid 3–0 advantage.

Hamline began the third period with a two-goal advantage, but Saint Benedict quickly closed the gap with a goal by Tuccitto at 17:36, assisted by Jusczak. Despite this setback, Hamline responded decisively. Belisle scored at 8:07, assisted by Abrahamson and Rothe, extending the lead to three goals. Shortly thereafter, Newpower capitalized on an opportunity, netting another goal at 5:42 with an assist from Abrahamson. This goal solidified Hamline's commanding lead. The game concluded with Hamline securing a 5-1 victory, maintaining control through solid defensive play and effective scoring.

Ryskamp scored once and concluded the game with a +4 rating, contributing significantly to her team's performance. Delmonico notched the game-winning goal and dominated the faceoff circle, winning 13 of 18 faceoffs. Abrahamson recorded two assists and a +3 rating, showcasing her ability to set up plays effectively. Lindgren added a goal on her only shot, making her contribution count.

The Pipers will be on the road for their series against Concordia on February 6 and 7, beginning with a 7 PM puck drop on Friday in Moorhead.
