DULUTH, Minn. — Hamline (11-2, 3-1 MIAC) defeated the College of St. Scholastica (4-11, 0-4 MIAC) 95-72 on Wednesday night at Reif Gymnasium. The Pipers dominated the paint, scoring 66 points, while also capitalizing on turnovers to add 16 points.
The first half saw Hamline take an early lead with a fast-paced offense, highlighted by
Brendan Ebel's layup at 18:43 to start the scoring. The Pipers maintained their momentum with a series of defensive stops and fast-break points, including a key layup by
Dane DeDominces at the 15:43 mark. St. Scholastica battled to keep pace, with Davion Butler contributing a three-pointer and a layup to narrow the gap, but Hamline's consistent scoring allowed them to close the half leading 41-34.
Raoul Vaidya's three-pointer with 1:56 remaining helped solidify Hamline's lead going into the break.
Hamline controlled the second half with a 54-38 scoring advantage over St. Scholastica, highlighted by a strong performance in the paint. Ebel led the charge with multiple layups, contributing to Hamline's 40 points in the paint.
Brock Donaldson was also pivotal, notching several key baskets and free throws. St. Scholastica's efforts, including a three-pointer from Butler at the 18:39 mark, were unable to close the gap as Hamline's defense held firm, securing a decisive victory.
Ebel led the team with 21 points and added two steals.
Ethan Wall-Atim posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while also contributing five assists and two steals. Donaldson scored 15 points, making six field goals, and added one assist.
Braedy Laliberte recorded nine points and two blocks, showcasing his defensive presence.
