LA CROSSE, Wis. — Hamline defeated UW-Stevens Point 6-1 on Saturday. The Pipers won two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches, taking points at Nos. 1 and 3 through 6 in singles.
Hamline earned the doubles point by winning two of the three completed courts.
Wyatt Crowell and
Brendon Sebring defeated Ayden Knuth and Augie Nelson 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and
Max Gulliford and
Matthew George topped Dawson Froemming and Anthony Janes 7-6(3) at No. 2. The Pointers took No. 3, where Nicholas Miller and Ben Temple defeated
Cale Vogel and
Wesley Saunders 7-6(5).
Starting singles with a 1-0 lead, the Pipers added five more points. Crowell defeated Janes 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Froemming earned the Pointers' point with a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (13-11) win over Gulliford at No. 2. Sebring answered at No. 3 with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) victory over Temple.
Hamline also picked up straight-set and match-tiebreak wins in the lower half of the lineup.
Truman Vogel defeated Knuth 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4,
Cale Vogel beat Nelson 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 5 and George closed with a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) win over Jacob Stinski at No. 6 as the Pipers finished with a 6-1 dual victory.
