Pipers Power Past St. Catherine in High-Scoring Matchup, Fueled By Chamernick Hat Trick

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (18-3-1, 12-2-1) defeated St. Catherine (9-13-0, 4-11-0), 8-6, in a high-scoring conference matchup. The Pipers capitalized on their power play opportunities, scoring four goals with the man advantage to secure the victory.

Hamline started the first period with Harper Powell in goal, facing early pressure from St. Catherine. Despite an initial goal by Rhiannon Ashworth at 1:27, Hamline responded effectively. Brooke Klemz equalized at 7:02 with an even-strength goal assisted by Kaiya Sandy, maintaining the competitive balance. St. Catherine regained the lead with a power-play goal by Samantha Bogen at 13:35. Hamline continued to challenge, but the period ended with St. Catherine holding a 2–1 advantage.

Hamline took control early in the second period, capitalizing on power-play opportunities. Iyla Ryskamp netted a power-play goal at 14:54 to tie it up, followed by Abigail Chamernick scoring another power-play goal at 12:32, assisted by Ryskamp, pushing Hamline ahead 3-2. St. Catherine responded quickly, leveling the score at 3-3 with a goal from Halle Dunleavy at 7:34.

Shortly after St. Catherine's equalizer, Hamline regained the lead with an unassisted goal by Nina Thorson at 7:22. St. Catherine tied the game once more at 5:13, but Hamline answered swiftly, as Ella Rothe scored at 4:55, assisted by Chamernick, bringing the score to 5-4. The period concluded with Hamline maintaining its one-goal advantage.

St. Catherine took the lead early in the third period with Lilly Gillespie scoring at 17:18. Hamline responded swiftly on a power play, as Chamernick found the net, with assists from Ashlyn Abrahamson and Ryskamp, reclaiming the advantage at 15:50. Hamline extended its lead with another power-play goal by Thorson at 11:08, assisted by Ellie Newpower and Sandy. Although St. Catherine's Isabel Burt narrowed the gap with a goal at 9:40, Hamline's Chamernick completed a hat trick shortly thereafter, assisted by Thorson and Klemz, to solidify the lead. The period closed with Hamline securing an 8–6 victory, maintaining their lead despite St. Catherine's efforts to equalize.

Abigail Chamernick scored three goals, including two on the power play, and added an assist. Thorson tallied two goals, one of which was the game-winner, and contributed an assist with a perfect faceoff percentage. Ryskamp added a goal and two assists, with one goal coming on the power play. Rothe scored once and excelled in the faceoff circle, winning 81% of her draws.

The Pipers will conclude their series with the Wildcats at home, with puck drop scheduled for 3 PM at TRIA Rink. They will also be celebrating their seniors and alumni during the game!
