SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (15-10, 7-9 MIAC) secured a decisive victory over Macalester College (7-18, 2-14 MIAC) with a final score of 90-70 on Saturday at the Leonard Center. The Pipers' defense played a significant role, recording 11 steals and 7 blocks.
Brendan Ebel also hits his 1000th career point in his final game of his career as a Piper during the first half of the game.
The game opened with Hamline establishing an early lead, highlighted by
Raoul Vaidya's three-pointer at 19:17. Macalester kept pace with a 3-pointer from Jamal Randle at 17:36, briefly tying the game at 7-7. However, the Pipers surged ahead with a series of successful plays, including a layup by
Camden Holecek at 11:56, extending its advantage.
Brendan Ebel contributed significantly with a layup and a three-pointer, helping Hamline end the first half with a 43-30 lead over Macalester.
In the second half, Hamline maintained control, beginning with
Braedy Laliberte scoring a jumper at the 19:33 mark, pushing its lead. Macalester's Ryan Brush responded with a three-pointer seconds later, but the Pipers extended their advantage with a 3-pointer by Vaidya at 18:00.
Ethan Wall-Atim contributed significantly with both defensive rebounds and key scoring, including a layup with 8:29 remaining. Despite Macalester's efforts, Hamline's consistent offensive output, including a late 3-pointer by
Logan Kunz, secured a decisive 90-70 victory.
Vaidya led the scoring efforts with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Wall-Atim contributed significantly with 11 rebounds and five assists, alongside two blocks. Laliberte showcased defensive strength with three blocks and four steals, adding 12 points on perfect shooting. Ebel recorded nine points and three steals, supporting the defensive play.
