GAME 1
WHITTIER, Calif. — Hamline (1-6) fell to Whittier (5-6) with a final score of 11-6 on Tuesday afternoon. Hamline recorded nine hits and two doubles in the contest, but Whittier's seven-run fifth inning proved decisive in securing the victory for the home team.
Hamline opened the game with a strong first inning, capitalizing on an error and timely hitting.
Elena Martinez reached first on an error, and
Brennan Reid singled, setting the stage for
Josephine Cariveau's RBI double that brought in Martinez.
Mikenna Johnson then singled to bring home Reid, giving the Pipers an early lead. The inning concluded with Hamline leading 2-0.
In the second inning,
Reese Herrig singled to begin the frame, with Martinez following up with a bunt single. Cariveau delivered again with a two-RBI double, extending Hamline's lead. By the end of the inning, the score stood at Hamline 4, Whittier 2, after Whittier responded with two runs of their own.

Julia Sina and a stolen base, Hamline did not score. Whittier's two runs came from a sequence of a double, an error, and a sacrifice fly, making it 4-4.
The fifth inning was pivotal. Hamline managed to score two unearned runs, with
Mikenna Johnson and
Maddie Johnson crossing the plate. However, Whittier's response was overwhelming. A grand slam by Kelly Nutter highlighted a seven-run inning for Whittier, propelling it to an 11-6 lead.

Hamline fell 10-0 to Whittier on Tuesday at Palmer Field. Hamline (1-7) managed just two hits in the contest, while Whittier (6-6) capitalized on a 7-run first inning to secure the victory.
Hamline faced Whittier in a contest that saw Whittier take a commanding lead early on. In the first inning, Whittier capitalized on errors and key hits to score seven runs. Daniella Contreras and Mariah Rodriguez both advanced on errors, contributing to the score, while Addison Sorto, Lana Escarcega, and Tiaira Richardson each drove in runs. By the end of the first inning, Whittier led 7-0.
The third inning added to Whittier's lead when Rodriguez's double brought in two runs, followed by an RBI single from Maya Torres. These plays extended Whittier's lead to 10-0.
Despite efforts from the Pipers to break through, including a single by
Maddie Johnson and a double by
Julia Sina in the fifth inning, they were unable to score. Whittier maintained its lead throughout the game, resulting in a final score of 10-0 in favor of Whittier.
Johnson recorded one hit in two at-bats, finishing with an OPS of 1.000. Sina contributed with a double and a hit, achieving an OPS of 1.500.
