The Hamline University men's tennis team continued its spring break slate in Orlando, Florida, on March 12, 2026, dropping a 4-2 decision to Vassar College at Fort Gatlin. The Pipers jumped out to an early lead after a strong doubles performance but were unable to hold off a singles surge from the Brewers in the middle and lower flights.
Hamline seized the opening point of the match by taking two of the three doubles contests. Wyatt Crowell and Brendon Sebring led the charge at the top flight with a 6-3 victory over M. Sondergaard Jensen and Joaquin Gil. The Pipers clinched the doubles point at the second position, where Matthew George and Max Gulliford outlasted Shrey Choudhary and Sanjay Rajkumar in a tight 7-5 battle. Vassar avoided the sweep with a 6-0 win at number three doubles over Liam Smith and Wesley Saunders.
In singles play, Wyatt Crowell extended the Hamline lead with a straight-set victory at the number one spot, defeating Trevor Hajek 6-4, 6-2. However, Vassar responded by claiming the next four completed matches to secure the team win. Maximus Martin earned a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) win over Brendon Sebring at number two, while Sanjay Rajkumar took the third flight with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Matthew George. At the fourth position, Max Gulliford took the opening set 7-5, but Vassar's Avery Frekhtman rallied to win the second set 6-1 and took the deciding tiebreaker 10-2. Shrey Choudhary added a 6-0, 6-1 win at the fifth spot over Liam Smith to finalize the scoring for the Brewers. The final match at number six singles between Wesley Saunders and Ryan Truta was left unfinished as a tie.
With the result, the Pipers move to 2-7 on the season as they continue their spring break trip.
